THE PRESIDENCY OCTOBER 2024

Must Read

Welcome to the October 2024 edition of The Presidency, your reliable source for updates on our nation’s progress under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

One highlight is the official reopening of the reconstructed Makerere University Ivory Tower building. This newly renovated Main Building features a fascinating basement museum, an expanded administrative wing, a dedicated service wing, and a vibrant business centre. During the event, President Museveni also installed Dr. Crispus Kiyonga as the new Chancellor.

President Museveni remains committed to lifting all Ugandans out of poverty through various government initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), and Emyooga. He urged opposition politicians to refrain from spreading negative messages that discourage support for these programmes, emphasising that such attitudes contribute to the ongoing struggles many Ugandans face.

In the ongoing fight against unemployment, the President encouraged the youth to actively engage in wealth creation rather than waiting for government job provision, which is limited in public service. He stressed that self-initiative is essential for economic empowerment.

In this edition, President Museveni underscored the crucial role of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) principles in driving wealth and development. Through its four ideological principles and three historical missions, the President highlighted that NRM has made significant strides in five phases: recovering the enclave economy, expanding the money economy, diversifying economic activities, adding value to raw materials, and promoting industrialisation while entering the knowledge economy.

We hope you find this month’s edition enjoyable and look forward to your feedback as we continue to share Uganda’s journey toward enduring progress and prosperity. We welcome your thoughts and comments via email at citizen@gcic.go.ug or through our social media channels.
